Candace Winkler is a seasoned nonprofit executive and senior consultant, who has spent over 15 years leading nonprofits in Alaska and California. She is an innovative leader who has partnered with high-powered boards, managed professional staff and directed the development, programmatic, and financial operations of three complex organizations: The Scholarship Foundation of Santa Barbara, The Alaska Community Foundation, and Thread. Ms. Winkler has been recognized locally and nationally for her leadership. The Anchorage Chamber of Commerce named her a “Top 40 Under 40”, the Anchorage Athena Society presented her with a Community Leadership Award, and the Children’s Defense Fund recognized her as an emerging leader in the field of early childhood education. Ms. Winkler has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Vanderbilt University and two master’s degrees in Social Work and Public Administration both from Columbia University.
